Possession Limits of Marijuana in California

Medical marijuana patients or caregivers can possess up to 8 ounces, or 227 grams, of dried cannabis or concentrates. Adults 21 or older can possess up to 1 ounce, or 28.35 grams.

Adults may give up to 1 ounce of dried cannabis to another adult 21 or older. Patients can not give away or transfer medical marijuana.

Cultivation Limits of Marijuana in California

Patients or their caregivers can grow up to 12 immature or 6 adult cannabis plants at a time. Adults can also participate in California’s home cultivation program. Adults can grow six plants, regardless of maturity level.
